Chiropractic Care Service

Chiropractic care involves the use of the doctors hands and/or instruments to deliver treatment to the joints of the spine and extremities.  Chiropractic care is a natural, drugless treatment delivered by Doctors of Chiropractic who,  after having completed a minimum of 3 years of university level education, must complete about 5 years of clinical based chiropractic education.  Subsequent to finishing their chiropractic education, students then must pass both provincial and national exams in order to earn the right to practice as a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC).

Eight out of ten Canadians will experience back pain at some point in their life.  This pain may keep them from the movements of everyday life, work and school.  As with any disease process or injury, early treatment will aid in recovery and returning to those activities.  Chiropractors understand how to relieve this pain.  Often, chiropractic patients will have immediate relief.

The treatment a chiropractor uses is termed joint manipulation or "adjustment".  This treatment involves a very quick, precise and safe amount of pressure applied to the specific joint levels in your spine that are causing your symptoms.  As this pressure is applied, the joints are momentarily separated within the anatomical limits of the joint.  At this point we may hear a "pop" which is simply the conversion of chemicals in a liquid state changing to a gas.  Just as if you were opening a bottle of champagne!

Not only do chiropractors treat disorders of the spine, we also treat various injuries to the extremities.  Depending on the chiropractor and his or her specialities, other techniques besides chiropractic manipulation may be utilized to treat sports related injuries, work related injuries, Motor Vehicle related injuries, maternity care, pediatric care and geriatric care.

At MMD Chiropractic Health Centre, a variety of techniques will be utilized to precisely diagnose, treat and offer you options of comfort for your specific health care concern.
